Acceptable Use Policy

Primer Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: 28 May 2026

1. Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy applies to anyone who accesses or uses Primer's websites, applications, software, artificial intelligence features, tools, outputs, data-processing workflows, subscriptions, beta features, integrations, APIs, or related services (together, the "Services").

This policy applies to your prompts, files, uploads, imports, instructions, notes, watchlists, datasets, configurations, workflows, connected sources, generated outputs, exports, shared links, and any other activity through the Services.

If you use Primer under the Consumer Terms, you may use the Services only for personal, non-business purposes. Consumer accounts must not be used for professional research, advisory work, managed investment activity, commercial investing, portfolio management, regulated activity, or work on behalf of an employer, fund, firm, client, customer, investment club, syndicate, or other organisation.

You are responsible for your own use of the Services and for anyone who uses your account. You must not use the Services in a way that violates this policy, the Consumer Terms, the Business Terms, the Privacy Policy, any applicable product terms, third-party terms, or applicable law.

2. Core Rule

Use Primer lawfully, responsibly, and for legitimate research and productivity purposes. Do not use Primer to harm people, evade legal duties, misuse confidential or market-sensitive information, provide regulated services without authorisation, compromise security, mislead others, or build competing systems from our Services or outputs.

You must apply appropriate human review before relying on outputs, publishing outputs, sharing outputs, trading or investing based on outputs, or using outputs in any decision that could materially affect a person, their rights, their finances, their access to services, or their wellbeing.

3. Illegal Activity and Legal Compliance

You must not use the Services to:

  • violate any applicable law, regulation, sanctions regime, export control, court order, regulator rule, exchange rule, market rule, professional duty, contractual obligation, or third-party right;
  • violate any terms, policies, licences, rules, or restrictions that apply to third-party model providers, data providers, market-data vendors, exchanges, websites, APIs, software, integrations, payment processors, infrastructure providers, or other services used with or through Primer;
  • facilitate, plan, conceal, or encourage illegal activity;
  • create, distribute, or use false, deceptive, or forged documents, identities, signatures, certifications, filings, statements, or credentials;
  • evade sanctions, export controls, anti-money-laundering rules, tax obligations, securities laws, commodities laws, market-abuse rules, disclosure obligations, investor-protection rules, or payment processor rules;
  • acquire, sell, distribute, or facilitate illegal or controlled goods, services, substances, weapons, malware, stolen data, counterfeit goods, or illicit credentials;
  • commit fraud, phishing, scams, impersonation, social engineering, extortion, theft, misappropriation, unauthorised access, or other unlawful acts; or
  • help another person do any of the above.

4. Finance, Markets, and Regulated Activity

Primer is a research-support and productivity tool. It is not a broker, investment adviser, financial adviser, bank, custodian, trading venue, exchange, tax adviser, accounting firm, law firm, or regulated research provider.

You must not use the Services to:

  • provide financial advice, investment advice, personal recommendations, regulated investment research, financial promotions, brokerage, execution, order routing, custody, settlement, clearing, portfolio management, asset management, tax advice, legal advice, accounting advice, credit advice, insurance advice, pension advice, mortgage advice, or any other regulated service unless you are properly authorised and your use is lawful;
  • make or automate trading, investment, lending, credit, insurance, tax, legal, accounting, or portfolio decisions without appropriate human review and professional judgement;
  • place, route, execute, arrange, clear, settle, or confirm orders or transactions;
  • hold, transfer, custody, manage, or control money, securities, cryptoassets, financial instruments, or other assets through Primer;
  • create, approve, distribute, or target financial promotions, investment solicitations, offering materials, securities research, regulated research, suitability assessments, or personalised recommendations unless lawful and properly authorised;
  • misuse inside information, material non-public information, confidential information, restricted-list information, embargoed information, trade secrets, proprietary research, expert-network material, broker research, analyst research, market data, index data, ratings data, or other information that you are not lawfully allowed to use;
  • engage in market manipulation, insider dealing, unlawful disclosure, front-running, spoofing, layering, wash trading, pump-and-dump schemes, short-and-distort schemes, misleading rumours, fraudulent fundraising, sanctions evasion, money laundering, terrorist financing, tax evasion, or other financial crime;
  • misrepresent Primer outputs as approved, authorised, reviewed, or endorsed by Primer, a regulator, exchange, issuer, broker, adviser, rating agency, data provider, or other third party;
  • use the Services to determine whether a person is eligible for credit, lending, insurance, housing, employment, education, public benefits, financial products, or other high-impact services without a lawful basis, required notices, qualified human review, and any required authorisation; or
  • use a consumer account for any commercial investing, professional research, advisory, portfolio-management, institutional, employment-related, or client-facing purpose.

These restrictions apply across all markets, venues, jurisdictions, and asset classes, including listed and unlisted securities, equities, bonds, loans, funds, ETFs, derivatives, options, futures, swaps, contracts for difference, commodities, foreign exchange, rates, indices, benchmarks, cryptoassets, tokenised assets, private funds, private credit, venture capital, real estate, structured products, insurance products, pensions, deposits, and any other financial or investment product.

5. High-Impact Decisions and Professional Domains

You must not use the Services as the sole basis for decisions that could have a legal, financial, medical, employment, housing, insurance, credit, education, public-benefit, safety, liberty, or similarly significant effect on a person.

You must not use the Services to provide or materially support professional advice or decisions in regulated or sensitive domains unless:

  • you have the qualifications, licences, permissions, and lawful basis required for that use;
  • a qualified person reviews the output before it is used, shared, or acted on;
  • you give any required AI, professional, risk, or consumer disclosures;
  • your use complies with applicable law and professional duties; and
  • your plan and agreement with Primer permit that use.

Sensitive domains include financial services, investment, credit, lending, insurance, legal services, tax, accounting, healthcare, mental health, employment, housing, education, immigration, criminal justice, public benefits, and any other regulated or high-impact decision area.

6. Safety, Harm, and Abuse

You must not use the Services to:

  • generate, encourage, facilitate, or glorify violence, terrorism, violent extremism, physical harm, self-harm, suicide, abuse, harassment, bullying, stalking, threats, intimidation, or exploitation;
  • create, obtain, modify, or deploy weapons, explosives, dangerous materials, biological agents, chemical agents, radiological materials, nuclear materials, or systems intended to cause physical harm;
  • develop, deploy, operate, target, or improve autonomous weapons, lethal targeting systems, battlefield targeting systems, or systems designed to select or engage targets without appropriate human control;
  • create or spread hateful, discriminatory, dehumanising, or harassing content targeting protected characteristics or vulnerable groups;
  • create, distribute, request, or facilitate child sexual abuse material, sexual exploitation of minors, grooming, sextortion, abuse of minors, or sexualised content involving minors;
  • generate sexually explicit content involving coercion, exploitation, non-consent, minors, or a person who has not consented to that use;
  • exploit vulnerable people or use manipulative, subliminal, deceptive, or predatory techniques to impair a person's decision-making;
  • impersonate another person, misrepresent your identity, misrepresent the source of content, or falsely present AI-generated content as human-generated where that would mislead someone;
  • create or disseminate deceptive, fraudulent, defamatory, infringing, misleading, or unlawful content; or
  • generate synthetic media, fake reviews, fake engagement, fake personas, fabricated sources, fabricated citations, or fake evidence in a way that misleads others.

7. Privacy, Confidentiality, and Data Rights

You must not upload, import, paste, connect, or ask the Services to process information unless you have all rights, permissions, licences, notices, consents, and lawful bases required to do so.

You must not use the Services to:

  • unlawfully collect, infer, reveal, process, share, sell, or exploit personal data;
  • solicit or expose passwords, credentials, authentication secrets, payment card data, government identifiers, health data, biometric data, children's data, special category data, precise location data, or other highly sensitive information unless expressly permitted by your plan, lawful, and appropriate for the feature;
  • deanonymise, reidentify, track, profile, surveil, or target a person without a lawful basis and any required notice or consent;
  • conduct or materially support mass surveillance, unlawful surveillance, biometric identification, biometric verification, facial recognition, emotion recognition, social scoring, predictive policing, or law-enforcement profiling unless expressly permitted by your agreement with Primer and lawful in the relevant jurisdiction;
  • infer sensitive characteristics such as health, race, ethnicity, religion, political opinions, trade union membership, sex life, sexual orientation, biometric identity, financial hardship, or vulnerability where unlawful or harmful;
  • process confidential, proprietary, restricted, embargoed, inside, market-sensitive, or trade-secret information in breach of law, contract, employment duty, fiduciary duty, subscription terms, data-provider terms, or confidentiality obligations;
  • upload broker research, analyst reports, paid datasets, market data, ratings data, expert-network material, third-party documents, paywalled content, or other restricted content unless your licence permits that use; or
  • use outputs to infringe, misappropriate, or violate intellectual property, database rights, confidentiality rights, publicity rights, privacy rights, or contractual rights.

8. Cybersecurity and Platform Integrity

You must not use the Services to:

  • discover, exploit, weaponise, or disclose vulnerabilities without authorisation;
  • gain unauthorised access to systems, accounts, networks, applications, devices, data, or physical infrastructure;
  • create, modify, deploy, or distribute malware, ransomware, spyware, credential stealers, botnets, destructive code, denial-of-service tools, or other harmful code;
  • bypass authentication, authorisation, rate limits, paywalls, security controls, safety systems, monitoring systems, data-loss-prevention systems, or access restrictions;
  • conduct phishing, credential harvesting, social engineering, spam, scraping, or automated abuse;
  • interfere with, disrupt, degrade, overload, or damage the Services or any third-party system;
  • extract system prompts, hidden instructions, secrets, credentials, API keys, private data, non-public information, model weights, model internals, or protected implementation details;
  • use prompt injection, malicious files, malicious websites, tool-output manipulation, or other techniques to exfiltrate data, override safety controls, or cause unintended tool actions; or
  • test security in a way that could harm Primer, our users, or third parties unless we have expressly authorised it.

9. AI Model, Output, and Service Abuse

You must not:

  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, copy, resell, rent, lease, sublicense, scrape, crawl, harvest, benchmark, or build a competing product or service from the Services except where this restriction is prohibited by law;
  • use inputs, outputs, prompts, workflows, traces, metadata, or interactions from the Services to train, fine-tune, distil, evaluate, improve, or benchmark a model or service that competes with Primer or our model providers unless we expressly permit it;
  • automate account creation, share accounts, resell access, pool access, or make consumer subscriptions available to others;
  • circumvent bans, suspensions, usage limits, feature limits, plan limits, access controls, regional restrictions, safety systems, or abuse-detection systems;
  • create multiple accounts to avoid limits or enforcement;
  • use automated or non-human access methods unless expressly permitted;
  • overload the Services through excessive, abusive, or unfair use;
  • remove, obscure, or alter provenance, safety, watermarking, attribution, or disclosure information where provided; or
  • use the Services in a way that creates legal, regulatory, operational, security, reputational, or safety risk for Primer, our users, our providers, or third parties.

10. Political, Civic, and Public Processes

You must not use the Services to:

  • mislead people about voting, elections, referenda, political processes, census processes, public consultations, legal rights, public services, or civic participation;
  • impersonate candidates, public officials, campaign organisations, media organisations, regulators, courts, or public authorities;
  • create deceptive political movements, fake grassroots campaigns, fake endorsements, automated mass lobbying, or synthetic political content intended to mislead;
  • target voters or civic participants with manipulative, deceptive, or unlawful profiling;
  • suppress lawful participation through deception, intimidation, or false information; or
  • interfere with voting systems, vote counting, certification, public records, public-sector systems, or democratic processes.

11. Agentic Workflows and External Actions

If the Services include agentic workflows, automation, integrations, browser actions, data retrieval, notifications, scheduled tasks, or external tool use, you are responsible for configuring and supervising those workflows.

You must not use agentic features to:

  • take external actions without appropriate human review and authorisation;
  • bypass paywalls, access restrictions, robots rules, website terms, rate limits, authentication, or consent requirements;
  • scrape, copy, or republish third-party content unlawfully;
  • place orders, submit forms, send communications, make filings, publish content, trade, or transfer value without required review and permission;
  • run workflows that are likely to misfire, spam, overload services, cause financial loss, or breach legal obligations; or
  • connect sources, accounts, tools, or systems that you are not authorised to use.

You remain responsible for checking whether an automated workflow has run correctly, whether outputs are accurate, and whether external actions are lawful and appropriate.

12. Enforcement

We may investigate suspected violations and may use automated and manual review, abuse detection, rate limits, content filtering, logging, and other safeguards to protect the Services and users.

If we reasonably believe that you have violated this policy, the Terms, or applicable law, or that your use creates unacceptable risk, we may:

  • block prompts, files, workflows, outputs, or tool actions;
  • remove or disable content;
  • restrict, throttle, suspend, or terminate access;
  • downgrade, disable, or refuse features;
  • refuse, reverse, or limit transactions;
  • preserve, review, or disclose information where lawful and reasonably necessary;
  • report unlawful activity to relevant authorities, regulators, platforms, providers, or affected parties; or
  • take other steps reasonably necessary to protect Primer, users, third parties, the Services, or legal compliance.

Serious, repeated, intentional, or high-risk violations may result in immediate suspension or termination. If we suspend or terminate access because of a breach, you may lose access to paid features without a refund except where a refund is required by law or expressly agreed by us.

Where reasonably practicable and legally permitted, we will give notice and an opportunity to appeal or remedy the issue. We may act without notice where necessary to prevent harm, comply with law, protect security, prevent abuse, preserve evidence, or reduce legal or regulatory risk.

13. Reporting

If you believe that the Services are being misused, an output is harmful or materially inaccurate, your account has been compromised, or content violates this policy, contact hello@primerapp.com.

Security issues should be reported responsibly and without accessing, modifying, or exfiltrating data that does not belong to you.

14. Changes

We may update this policy as the Services, laws, risks, and provider requirements evolve. If we make material changes that affect your use of the Services, we will provide notice where required by law or where reasonably practicable.
